Twice-Daily Kennel Cleaning Protocol
- Remove all bedding, bowls, and toys.
- Remove solid waste; rinse cage or run with warm water.
- Apply veterinary-grade disinfectant (accelerated hydrogen peroxide, potassium peroxymonosulfate, or diluted bleach) to entire surface.
- Allow full dwell time — do not shortcut.
- Rinse thoroughly; squeegee to drain.
- Replace bedding, food, and water using clean vessels.
- Sanitize hallway floor between rows.
- Change gloves between suspected sick and healthy animal areas.
Between-Patient Deep Clean
When a kennel changes occupants, add: strip and launder all reusable bedding at 160°F+, sanitize all shared bowls in dishwasher or bleach solution, wipe down cage doors and latches.

Every kennel area needs floor drains with backflow prevention. Water that pools becomes a pathogen reservoir within hours.
