Janitorial Quality Inspection Checklist and Scoring System

6 min readUpdated 2026-08-24By Blue Collar Cleaning Co.

The most common cause of janitorial complaints isn't poor cleaning — it's the absence of a shared quality standard. A written scoring system replaces subjective complaints with measurable data both parties can act on.

Scoring Framework (100 points)

  • Restrooms: 30 points (highest complaint driver).
  • Floors: 20 points.
  • Kitchen and break rooms: 15 points.
  • Common areas and lobby: 15 points.
  • Trash and recycling: 10 points.
  • Detail work (baseboards, vents, glass): 10 points.

Scoring Method

Walk the space with a printed checklist. Each item scores 0-5. Photograph any deficiency. Deliver report within 24 hours with corrective action deadline (typically 48 hours for minor, 24 hours for major).

Thresholds and Consequences

  • 90-100: Exceeds expectations — quarterly bonus consideration.
  • 80-89: Meets standard — no action required.
  • 70-79: Warning — corrective action plan required.
  • Below 70: Formal notice, remediation plan, possible termination for cause.

Measurable Quality Programs

Every Blue Collar account receives monthly inspection reports with photos and 24-hour corrective action turnaround.
