Why ESD control matters for cleaning
The human body regularly carries 3,000–15,000 volts of static charge simply from walking across a carpeted lobby. Sensitive semiconductors can be damaged by discharges as low as 30 V. Cleaning activities — walking, moving carts, unrolling plastic, wiping surfaces — are among the highest-static-generating events in a live data center. Formal ESD procedures are not optional.

All white-space technicians complete ESD S20.20 awareness training with annual refreshers. Site leads carry additional certifications.
